We planted 19 official Journey North tulip bulbs. We also planted 19 experimental bulbs. We colored seven of the bulbs blue. Some students predict this will not affect the growth or color of the tulips. Others predict the petals will be blue in the spring. We planted six tulip bulbs upside-down. Some students predict the tulips will grow down into the Earth. Others predict the stem will grow out of the roots instead, but still grow up out of the Earth. Finally, we planted six tulip bulbs three inches deep instead of six inches deep. Several students predict they will grow faster and taller because they are closer to the surface. Others predict predators will be able to get to the bulbs easier because they are so close to the surface. Still others think they will grow faster because the water can get to them sooner, or it will get too much water and sun.
We also found a lot of giant earthworms in our garden! We learned that earthworms help with nutrients in the Earth by d
