Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 11/03/2006

Number: 1

My butterfly garden started in September 2005. I have seen caterpillars of Giant Swallow tails, Black Swallow tails, Gulf Fritillaries and Queens. I have never seen Monarch butterfly around here. When I saw Monarch butterfly yesterday (11/02/06), I was not 100% sure of it. Today I saw two or three of them in my garden. One of them (male) has wing which corner was missing. I would imagine that he has been on long journey to here. I don't know where they will go from here, Yuma? Mexico? California? or stay here. Last year, The Botanical Garden here released 500 of Monarch butterfly with blue tag on them. I heard that none recovered from the event. It is exciting to see my hard work is rewarded!
