Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 11/07/2006

Number: 1

Front came in during the night. Monarchs on the increase before noon with the light NW wind. Went back and did a count from 12:20 to 12:50 and had 125 come by my point for an hourly avg of 250, best 5 minutes was 25. Wind calmed after 2:00 and the number dropped to about 1 every 5 minutes by 3:30. We went back at 4:30 and found several small clusters wanting to form before sundown. High had gotten to 71 dF, clear. Wind was out of SE at sundown. Another front Friday/Saturday and this may repeat. On Nov 4th we also had a brief flurry of monarchs following the large numbers on the 2nd and 3rd.
