Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 11/09/2006

Number: 1

My property has hundreds of trees. I noticed Monarchs chose one oak tree in particular with dense foilage. The entire tree literally "Fluttered" because of the number of monarchs on it. This particular Oak is pretty unique to my property. Why they chose it, I don't know. But while they could have chosen from hundreds of other less unique trees on my property......they chose this specific Oak. It had a good breeze and water in a nearby trough.

I am amazed with the Monarach Migration this year. In the 10 years I've lived in this region I have NEVER seen the quanity of monarchs. By and large most of them are very tiny but there have been some large ones. They have come in WAVES this years. Millions....perhaps Billions. I have been worried since the freeze in years past about their survival but this year certainly eases my mind. They have rembounded in an amazing way.
I would guess that this is the FOURTH WAVE of Monarachs in the past month's time. And they still come. They will be arriving in Mexico for a great deal longer. Tell the citziens of Michoacan to be prepared to be amazed by the numbers this year!!!!!!!!
