Saturday October 21, 2006 marked the last day a juvenille male Ruby-throated hummingbird visited my yard this season.
All in all this was an amazing year for my little chunk of Hummingbird Habitat. The greatest number of visitors I was able to see at one time reached an all time high of 4 hummingbirds. I had visitors here a record number of days too...162 days in total and 148 days consecutively.
The last little guy has an underbite, I'll be keeping an eye out for him next season!
I took down and brought in my last 3 feeders today Monday, November 13, 2006. The Cuphea, Black and Blue Salvia, Lady In Red Salvia, and Trumpet Honeysuckles finally stopped blooming a couple of weeks ago having been killed by the cold weather and frost. I spent the afternoon collecting all the seed pods and then cutting down all the flower stalks in preparation for next season.
I hope everyone had an opportunity to visit with these little winged-wonders this season! But if you didn't, reme
