After planting with students at school, I planted more tulips in my 25 year old garden at home. The soil is much richer there, and the tulips were planted in a raised box. At Haydon Elem. our tulips were planted mostly in good old red Virginia clay with a layer of shale underneath. We plan to track both gardens and compare the two. This is my first year of participating, and I am very excited. I've never gardened by "rules" before, so I am curious as to the results.
