My husband and I dug the holes the night before. In class the students were given a bulb and a short lesson on measuring in both metric and standard linear measures. They then measured the circumferenc and length of the bulb. We all went outside and planted the bulbs after checking to see if the holes were the correct depth. Some had to dig, while others had to fill but everyone got one planted.
