The "magnificent" hummingbird is still here! She's been identified as either a Rufous or Allens. A licensed bander was here on Wednesday, but "Buffy" would not cooperate -- she hovered AROUND the bird cage -- but would not go in. We could hear her chattering and scolding us in the trees -- We are going to try again today. Hopefully we will be successful. She will be the third Rufous on record for Delaware County, PA -- or if she's identified as an Allens -- the FIRST! It's a thrilling experience - the weather has been spring-like for the past week - we had torrential rains yesterday and last night - with winds of 45 miles an hr.....She came to the feeders religiously --- and showed up this morning unscathed.
