My last sighting of "Buffy" the young female rufous was on 12/3/06. She arrived on 10/12/06; was banded on 11/21/06 -- and kept me entertained and fascinated the entire time. Another female rufous was banded a mile from my home (the 3rd in my county to ever be banded). They both left the same day! When my ruby-throats leave next fall, I'll have something to look forward to -- perhaps "Buffy" will return. Those of you who live in the south -- keep your feeders up -- more rufous are being seen on the east coast these days -- perhaps "Buffy" will visit your feeder!
