Hello, this morning (December 16, 2006) at about 8:30 EDT while making a cup of coffee I heard a bird and thought - wait a minute- that was a robin! I heard it again and got on my coat and sure enough, sitting on top of a telephone pole sat a robin. I grabbed the binoculars and got a verified sighting of a robin in the middle of December near Traverse City, Michigan. I also heard another one close by while watching the first. Unfortunately, the robin didn't stick around while I got my digital camera. This is the first time I had seen a robin in the winter in Michigan but with very warm weather for this time of the year, I don't think it will suffer. For the next two days it is predicted to have a high in the 40's and almost all of the snow is gone and the ground is not frozen yet. I asked the local Oldies Radio station to play "Rockin' Robin" for me. Argus
