Northern Observation Post, Shirley Bell reporting from Winnipeg, Manitoba
Tis almost sunrise and I always feel that winter is broken when I can have breakfast with no lights. This has been the most unusual winter. Terrible for asthmatics for the snow cover is almost nil. the fields are brown and there might be 2-3 cm. around here. I have not been out much, but all i have seen is the odd sparrow,a crow or two coming to the garbage bins. there is lots of rabbits tracks and maybe some shrews[most likely mice]. they are calling for a drought this year unless we get some snow in March. I think you have a colder winter than us. First robin song – Apr. 03 and maybe I will see one Apr. 08 over Easter. But maybe we will get snow then and they had better stay south of the border.
When do YOU think I'll see my first robin?
