Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/25/2007

Number: 1

My wife and I observed a flock of approximately 50 robins in and around the parking lots of our local Shopping Mall. I know it's been a mild winter but this is a FIRST for us and we are in our 70's.

They were rummaging through some bushes and old flower beds. They had a lot of debris scattered out on top of the snow. It appeared they were after seeds of some kind. By the way, we saw them in the same place this morning, the 1st of February. The numbers seemed to be down to around twenty.

Our temperatures had been unseasonably warm all winter. Highs ranged from the high twenties to the mid-thirties. However, last weekend, it turned much colder. We are currently having lows in the low teens and highs right around 20 degrees. It is to get into the single digits for lows this coming weekend with highs in the mid teens.
