Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 01/08/2007

Number: 1

The robins flew in on Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2007, and stayed until Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2007. We see them every year, but they are usually here for just one day and gone. In addition to them staying for an extra day this year, the number was much greater as well. In the past there were maybe several hundred. This year was unbelievable! There were several thousand at least. They seemed to be centered around our house and about 4 of our neighbors. Their chattering was so loud! They were eating the berries off our camphor tree and our neighbors camphor. It was absolutely fascinating to watch and listen to them. There was only one downside to this many robins: the poop. You could not walk from the front porch all the way to the street to the mail box without stepping in bird droppings! I do not exaggerate..I had never seen anything like it. I am excited to follow where they have gone from here.
