Single young bird, healthy looking, hanging with a group of sparrows inspecting an old sparrow nest in a sugar maple. Observed him/her for approx. 30 minutes, amazed at such an early sighting. Mild winter had robins here very late (late Dec.), however, so I wonder if this bird actually wintered over. Following day temps dropped into single digits (F) and winter acted like winter again - and since. Bird feeders and suet are plentiful. No further sightings.
