Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 01/24/2007

Number: 1

Well, it has been about a week now and our temperatures have been hovering around 5 to 10 degrees F. This female roblin has been eating the berries on our holly bush. I thought the berries were poisonous to birds! I'd like to help out. I have been putty raisins out but not chopping them up. I suppose some kind of fruit chopped up would be good. I even thought of sending away for some mealy worms and putting them in some buss-bedding. This robin is very protective of the holly bush and imedialty chases any blackbirs away. She does not mind sparrows or juncos. I do have a heatd bird bath and did place some raisins in it. The raisins swell up and hopefully the robins will eat them. Any suggestions would be helpfull. This Sunday is suppose to get down to minus 5 or 10 degrees F. and I worry about this robin.
Thanks for hearing me out ...Sincerly, Al Coley Streator,Il
