Yesterday, 2/1/07, I had a wave of about 300 robins going through my woods. What a spectacular sight. Some landed on the trees -- looked around -- and then took off in a southerly direction. I had about 100 stop behind my home -- they took baths in the creek -- dried off -- fluttering wings -- as they perched in the trees -- and then flew down to the leaves. They foraged there for a while -- finding morsels of food. I watched this event for about half an hour from my deck. About a dozen starlings were traveling with the robins -- and imitating them. The temperature was 35 degrees - and overcast skies prevailed.
