Here at Mary's Point, St. John’s, New Brunswick (45°
15' 33" N - 66° 02' 20" W)- I found a group of 6
AMERICAN ROBINS [Merle
d'Amerique] on my walk yesterday afternoon. They were
feeding on bare
patches of ground beneath scattered spruce trees.
Because I had only
occasionally been seeing one since somewhat before
Christmas, I
wondered at the time if the six might have moved in
from a location
where food had been exhausted. Roger's observation
this morning of
three Robins, the first he's seen since early
December, also suggests
that fruit-eating birds might be starting to move
around.
