Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/04/2007

Number: 1

The weather has been cold and damp for the last 3 days (temps between 50 and 67 degrees which is about 10 degrees below normal), a cold front has been stationary just to our North. I would guess we have seen over a 1000 robins yesterday and today, they are very, very active, eating on the ground (I assume insects in the grass) and berries in the palm trees.

We generally (for 2 of the past 3 years since we moved here) have observed this behavior around the 5th of February.

We spend summer in Pittsburgh and might see a large flock of robins eating worms on a soccer field in April but only 100 or so at a time, nothing as large as this wave.
