This is the first Monarch butterfly I have seen this year. I was taking the trash out and all of a sudden, there she was. What a nice surprise!
I was totally surprised as we've had cold temperatures here this winter too.
I believe 4°F was the low this winter just last month. It's only warmed up within the last 3 weeks. We're now seeing 41°F at night and 70°F in the daytime.
How would a butterfly winter over in those temperatures?
