Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/17/2007

Number: 1

Well, I'll be! I just went out to the implement store to buy more squirrel and bird food and the grass field by the county fair grounds was full of robins! We've spent the last week below zero at night and have barely reached 10 during the day and yet, here they are! Yesterday we made it above freezing for awhile and are in the upper 30's today so either these silly birds don't know about the 32 degree theory or they're telling us that things are going to warm up! The forecast is for above freezing every day this coming week and reacing the 50's by the weekend. I watched them for awhile and didn't see them pulling out any worms (not that I would expect them considering how frozen our ground must still be) but they were taking baths in the puddles formed by the melting snow. We had some tremendous winds from both the north and the south over the past few days so maybe they have just decided to ride the breeze and hope for the best!
