Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/11/2007

Number: 1

Although it is mid February (already!), I suspect these flocks I have been seeing are wintering ones.
The large one last Sunday (February 11th) was at McKeough Conservation Area ( near Wilkesport, Ontario
- 42° 43' 40" N - 82° 21' 45" W)
along Holt Line east of Hwy 40, Lambton Co. I estimated about 600 birds, 95% Red-winged, some cowbirds, starlings, 3 or 4 grackles, and 1 Rusty. I thought I saw a Brewer's at one point; it could havebeen, but I'm not sure. There is a suitable farm nearby that they may have been wintering.
