Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 02/26/2007

Number: 1

I saw my first male Ruby Throat about a half an hour ago challenging my over-wintering female Rufous hummingbird. It's about 82 at the moment, mostly sunny with winds 10-15 mph. I have 3 feeders that are not in sight of each other up. Pineapple sage, Abutilon, lavender, Mexican lobelia, dianthus, shrimp plant, red honeysuckle, bottle brush, azaleas, firecracker fern, knock-out roses, and butterfly weed are sparsely blooming in my yard. My yard is more of a bed-n-breakfast for the Ruby throats in the spring. What do you think my Rufous will do?
