Bald Eagle

Date: 02/28/2007

Number: 1

I spent this past monday travelling the roads around the hydro station
in awe of the "Flock" of eagles ,rough legs and red-tails present .

My friend and I saw at least 15 mostly immature balds(different ages)
,4 to 7 mature balds , at least 17 dark and light phased rough legged
hawks and a number of nice tails all within 1 square mile . It was
amazing . A huge flock of assorted geese on the lake ice may have been
one of the prey attractants to the area .The open water out front of
Nanticoke Hydro on Lake Erie is probably the true lure to the area.
This being similar to the overwintering area on the Grand River in
the Cambridge area. I hope all Ontario birders get to witness the
spectacle that I was blessed with today.
