We have observed flocks of robins at wildlife areas in Delaware and Jones County Iowa throughout the winter. Others have also reported seeing small flocks on and off most of the winter. Fruit from shrubs and trees seem to be providing them with enough food to stick out this winter. Recent ice and snow storms may have taken a small toll on these flocks. We found one dead robin in our yard the day after a blizzard passed through the state of Iowa. Apparently suffocated by the extreme wind and snow that pummeled our area.
