Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 03/08/2007

Number: 1

Went to Victoria this afternoon looking for A. viridis on the east side
where we would normally find it after finding it in Calhoun Co. ...
zip!, none! They have had a few more hard freezes than we did, more
than Houston, even got down to
29 dF on Sunday morning, 30 Monday. We will go back on Saturday and
look at a couple additional places. If it holds true and more of the
viridis got hit by these late freezes in the area than we thought at
first, it isn't good news for the early monarchs that are heading
inland 20 miles from the coast. The A. asperula could be up in a few
days and if so would fill in the void ... hope so!
