Friday, March 2 we saw the first male Rufous Hummingbird at our feeder on the coast in Newport. They are late this year since for the past four years the first Rufous has arrived between Feb 22 and 24. Most native vegetation is late on the coast this year and we have seen very few native flowering currants in the area which is probably why the Rufous are delayed.
