The first genuine sign of spring for me is the yearly return of the violet-green swallows. Living and working next to the mighty Columbia has its rewards as the birds tend to be spotted first along its serpentine path. Their chittering alerts me to their presence usually long before I can see them in the air,as they usually fly high in the sky in early spring. Welcome back flying acrobats!
