Glorious Spring is knocking at our door, now!
Lethbridge saw a roller-coaster ride of warm, then cold, but it seems the changes were more intense this winter. In our yard we only saw 4 bluejays, a magpie, 2 red-shafted flickers, the odd junco, and 3/4 zillion sparrows! Earlier we had some house finches, but none since the New Year.
Anyway back to the rollercoaster. Since last Friday we went from a cold foggy morning to +12 then to -03 Sunday was a whopping high of +5 cold and cloudy. Then this morning 'round freezing and THEN way up to a wonderful sunny +18C or 68F.
After hearing of Robins in Stirling last week (20 miles south) and now Bob Harris has some up in Calgary (120 miles north)....I was starting to pout.
So to cheer up, my wife and I went out for a walk. Ahhhh, the distinctive sound of a robin. WONDERFUL! One block from our house high up in bare a Poplar – 1 good old "robin red breast" singing away in the rosy light of the setting sun. It warms the heart !;
