Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 03/22/2007

Number: 1

Hello from Oregon’s Willamette Valley! Finally, our first 2007 JN tulip bloomed this past Monday, 3-19-07! Since Monday, 21 of the 85 Red Emperor tulips we planted in January have bloomed. We are continuing to track and record on a daily basis both the above and below surface temperatures in our JN garden. Our temperatures this month have been much milder than the temperatures we recorded during the previous two months. We can tell that warmer spring weather is definitely on its way.

Two of our students, Sierra and Gabriella, continue experimenting with their operation of a LEGO robot that remotely operates and monitors soil temperatures in our JN garden. We hope to post pictures and information about our robot on the JN web site soon. If you’re interested in this part of our 2007 JN project please write. We are more than happy to share information about this really cool invention with others!

We hope all your tulips are beginning to awaken at your school with spring’s arrival!
