Bald Eagle

Date: 03/14/2007

Number: 1

I was on a field trip at the John Heinz Wildlife refuge (3/14)
The group was facing route 95 due east as the bird flew from the North. I saw the radio device with an unaided eye then used the binouclars to confirm the presence of the telemetry device. The bird was either an immature bald eagle or a golden. I have emailed Drs. Katzner and Latta as well as Mike Lanzone. Mike forwarded the information that "their" devices are not reporting a golden in the vicinity of the southern delaware river along the Phila. Airport. Mike also mentioned that these devices long defunct can remain on a bird. Any suggestions???? I consider myself a fair birder and would like more information regarding our sighting. We all had a very good look at the bird. Mike Lanzone forwarded your web site to me. The information on the aviary tracking site shows the bird (#39) far North of our location on the 14th. I asked about glitches in the tracking sysytem....no response to that query.
