Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/25/2007

Number: 1

Spotted 2 Monarch Butterflies moving north up dirt road that runs between State Road 92 and State Road 40 at 1718 in an area called Rima Ridge west of Ormond approximately 5 miles. They were going north. I could not tell if they were males or females. Then I saw a Monarch several weeks ago in the park where I band birds, my first after the Monarch reporting request came out. I posted it as well. In December I found 2 larvae on a pitiful milkweed in my front yard and amazingly, about 7 weeks later, I found TWO Monarchs in my yard. I am assuming they were those same 2 finally morphed. Now, those 2, I just have to believe, are part of the FL subpopulation...well, of course. They were born in Florida!!! Just who laid the eggs, a late migrator (that seems doubtful, doesn't it) or a subpopulation from Florida?
