Spring Has Sprung March 20, 2007
What a surprise! Our Red Emporer Tulips finally bloomed! We have never seen this type of tulip before, and it remains unique to our area. Our students were amazed at the span of the tulip, the depth, and the inside center's features. Our local community sports mostly smaller purple, pink, and coral varieties. However, this tulip really stands out. We enjoy watching how they open throughout the day and close so nicely at night. We are working on our comparison garden studies. Note that our 9-banded armadillo is nowhere to be found! Another interesting note... we have one particular tulip plant that emerged with two blooms (unusual). Out of the 25 planted tulips, 19 have emerged. We also planted an additional 25 tulips (we planted 50 total) in areas around our "school." Hayden, 12 years old, has begun to photograph the tulips with his cameraphone. He wants to use it as "wallpaper" for his computer and phone to captur
