John Saba saw two monarchs at Arivaca Lake in Pima County, Arizona, on Monday, March 26, 2007.
The observations were made between 10:20 - 3:40 pm. The monarchs were among 19 species of butterflies he saw. lepidopterist.

Arivaca Lake is a small fishing lake SSW of
Tucson, NW of Nogales, and about 9 miles from the Mexican
border. Cottonwoods and
willows are along the water's edge. The surrounding hilly and
mountainous area has mesquite, cactus, and some
juniper. Elevation ca. 3600'.

Observation forwarded by Paul Cherubini who noted that John Saba is a highly experienced and respected Arizona.
