Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/24/2007

Number: 1

I saw two beautiful Monarchs in my yard in Sumpter, AR on Saturday and Sunday (3/24 & 25). These are the first I've seen.

Reported for Judy S. by Dr. Jim Edson. He added, Sumpter, AR is small community 1.5 miles south of Warren, AR, which is about 15 miles west of Monticello. The botanist here at University of Arkansas Monticello was out this afternoon visiting the Warren Prairie (a Nature Conservancy area between Monticello and Warren) and reported that the Asclepias viridis was up with buds and about to bloom. He did not see any eggs or larvae.
