I heard and then saw our pair of great blue herons - they have returned to their nest site on the big pond. Last spring was the first year we had them nesting here so we are really pleased to see them come back. They are really noisy, setting up nest-keeping again in the dead elm. The weather today is bright, sunny with a bit of a breeze. The sap ran - we have about 3 barrels to boil down tonight.
