Earthworm (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/02/2007

Number: 1

On a rainy walk this morning I saw the first lowly earthworm of the season.

The robins have been EVERYWHERE since Friday. The fields are finally snowfree at our elevation and the robins have moved in. They are evidently finding food underneath the old, wet leaves that were buried under snow all winter. They hop, hop, hopped and then poked the leaves or pushed them back with their feet. We lifted a mat of wet leaves on the field and found a worm-like slug.
