Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/02/2007

Number: 1

I saw two monarchs in different locations. The weather was warm and sunny, breezy. One at a playground was flying and it was large and healthy looking. The one in my yard was probably a female looking for a host plant, as it was checking out foliage plants in my front yard, sort of skipped my back yard and went to the mostly scraped, naked lot next door. In the back I have at least three good size common milkweed plants up already (with more to come), so hopefully she'll come back! I haven't checked them for eggs today yet.

We are having a very early spring. Lots of butterflies out already- tiger swallowtail, different types of black swallowtails, admirals, tiny yellows of unknown name, white cabbage thingys.
