Two females were observed laying eggs on Asclepias viridis at Choctaw Trails in southwest Jackson, MS this afternoon. Conditions were quite windy in advance of thunderstorm activity and the females were being blown around, consequently eggs were quite scattered. 20 fresh eggs and 2, 2nd instar larvae were found while examining about 100 plants. We have continued to monitor egg laying at Choctaw Trails since the initial sighting on March 23; a few eggs have been found each collection day but total found over this period is only around 100.
