Hummingbird, Rufous (FIRST)

Date: 03/16/2007

Number: 1

One lone rufus hummer was sighted. I put up my feeder the next day. By the following day one or two more rufus hummers and a couple of ruby throated showed up and fought over the little two holed feeder I had. The ruby throated were very agressive and attempted to push the rufus away. One little rufus that was sitting there drinking finally got annoyed and turned and pecked at the ruby. Today is April 4 and the air is whirling with hummers of both types zipping all over the place. I've added a second larger feeder. Their aren't very many flowers blooming yet here so they're very agressive I suspect because of that. They are very very active and a delight to watch.
