Good morning from a still cold and snow-locked Alaskan interior!

Temps have been warming to 40 degrees for the past 4 days here in Shageluk, Alaska after having 4 straight weeks of temps dipping to -25 degrees! Spring is here, though, with sunrise at around 7:00 a.m. and sunset around 9:30 p.m.

Sunday afternoon our first spring bird was spotted by Shawn Benjamin, grade 6, at our local dump. He was busy doing chores of bringing their family garbage to the dump by snowmachine and he saw it sitting in a nearby tree. Great news!

We'll keep you posted with news of our next spring bird sighting!

Welcome spring!
