Robin (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/05/2007

Number: 1

This week, our 7th grade class of 78 students watched for robins from 3/25-3/30. They were asked to record number of robins they observed and any behaviors. They sighted
313 total robins. Behaviors included gathering at the bird bath and feeder, pecking at a puddle, hopping around, just standing there, chirping, flying, pecking on the ground and eating worms. On the 29th, one student observed 30-50 robins at one time - too many to count - on the practice field. They were pecking and walking and flying around. Another reported 4 very dark robins and one very light one, which he thought was unusual. We have not observed any nesting behavior yet. Our weather was nice, mostly sunny, with high’s in the 70’s.
