Our boisterous little male song sparrow has returned this week. How do we know it is him? He perched in the very same spot in the garden as last year and sang and sang. We had almost given up hope of him finding a mate when she finally arrived last year.Maybe it is one of his brood from last year anyway we know spring is coming despite the fact that we are getting 15cm of snow tonight. We have lots of Ravens in Cape Breton and they have been doing their sky dancing for some time trying to impress the opposite sex. I guess sure signs of spring are very different throughout North America.
