Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 04/05/2007

Number: 1

The weather during this past weekend was cooler than seasonal, with strong north/northwest winds, scattered flurries, and daytime highs of about 7C. Nights were below freezing again. Along with the wave of robins, we had another wave of eastern bluebirds (been here for about 3 weeks), sandhill cranes, grackles, black ducks, wood ducks, a few osprey, blue herons galore, and a swan that was too high up to identify. Wild turkeys are in full breeding season activity (lots of strutting and tail waving), and doves, crows and starlings are building nests.

Haven’t heard a robin on territory yet – maybe due to the volume of the gusting winds J, but the cardinals and song sparrows are staking their claim.

Happy Spring!

p.s. winter came back to the Ottawa Valley last night (April 11). It’s been snowing big sticky flakes for the past 18 hours – what a mess!
