Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/07/2007

Number: 1

Thursday, I gathered up about 15 Monarch eggs found on A. incarnata, and A. speciosa and brought them inside. They were predicting freezing temps for this area into the 20's. I covered what plants I could in my garden, and hoped for the best. Saturday, I had my 1st Monarch cat hatch. And, several more on Sunday. We were quite fortunate that the temps did not stay below freezing very long Saturday morning. And did not freeze on Sunday. The milkweed in my garden still looks quite good, as well as the eggs left outside on my covered plants. I have now brought more eggs in to see how well they hatch. Ready for warmer weather....
