Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 04/08/2007

Number: 1

The robins have started to sing in Stirling! We've been having really good weather here in Stirling, Alberta. The temperature is near perfect for any time of year ... about 20C, sunny and no wind. April 9th it was 17 but VERY windy. That's still very warm ... far warmer than average for this time of year. That night, however, a cold front came through. It started raining before 6am this morning.(April 10) By 7 the rain had changed to snow and it's been snowing all day ... although it melts when it hits pavement or the concrete sidewalks. The ground, however, and grass as well as the trees have over 3 inches of snow while the temperature is still above freezing at +3C. The snow is wet and heavy.

I thought I'd send you a picture of three robins sitting in my back apple tree ... puffed up trying to stay warm in the snow. And a second picture of a couple of pine trees and their blanket of snow today. A Northern Observation Post
