My suburban 1/3 acre is planted with native plants which attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and has a small man-made pond which attracts frogs and toads. We use no fertilizer or pesticides on our annually shrinking lawn (we keep expanding our native plantings around the house), which grows an assortment of grass and caterpillar-loving weeds.
