Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/14/2007

Number: 1

I had a monarch on Saturday! Tatter-winged and washed out colors, but there she was nectaring on the tropical milkweed I over-wintered. I was so excited! Columbia is mostly a fly by area in the spring, so I'm guessing the gusty weather fronts we've had the last two weeks blew the little thing off course, but I don't care. I had a monarch!

My neighbor thought I was nuts, jumping around the yard squealing; and that earned her a lecture on monarchs, migration, and milkweed.
