Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/16/2007

Number: 1

Spotted a worn Monarch last week on 10 April sailing across a neighbor's yard. The sighting took place in Newport in the Broad Creek
District off Hyway 24. I also sighted another one
yesterday (4/17/07) along the rear of my property in the same
area.

as you may be aware, some Monarchs
overwinter here on the outer banks. I didn't have a
chance to visit Ft. Macon this winter, but last year,
Monarchs could be seen all winter there. Sightings of
4 to 6 per visit were regular. I believe Randy Newman
is the park ranger there and he can likely provide
information about this past winter.
