Had a very odd appearance of a Belted Kingfisher this morning, not sure if it will stay around or not. I did however recall hearing the call of one a few days ago and brushed it off. Not being sure if one would be in this area as there are no large streams or even creeks nearby. We do have a very small branch that runs behind our home though.
There are a few small ponds around this area but none big enough to attract a kingfisher I wouldn't have thought, time will tell I suppose.
Never the less was very enjoyable to watch & hear it calling, I will be on the lookout for a partner.
