All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 04/20/2007

Number: 1

First phoebe singing outside the window this morning. It's incessant song will be in the background for many weeks/months ahead. I'll count the number of times he sings in a minute, keep track of how long during daylight hours he sings and how late in the season. Then I'll calculate a grand total of phoebe songs I'm about to hear. Here's my wild guess:

30 times per minute, so 1,800 times per hour

5 hours per day, so 9,000 per day

90 days (April 20 to July 20)

So a grand total of 810,000 times.

They seem to sing constantly so I'll see if I'm right!
